2.25.06
- Ladies and gentlemen, as some of you may already know, Miranda's
Moon is playing a final farewell concert
on Friday, March 17, 2006. It will undoubtedly be the greatest St. Patrick's
Day celebration of all time. We knew that the end of Miranda's Moon was
approaching, but we didn't realize it would be so soon.
The Bot Abbas is a such a stellar medical student, that he is willing to relocate to North Carolina to complete his lab work. A good portion of his graduate program centers around this continuing project, and therefore the matter is largely out of his hands.
Jewbacca, aka Penoyar, has decided to finish up his medical studies in the majestic state of Oregon. Being an outdoorsman and a native of Washington state, he longs to return himself to the wilderness. Oh, and to practice medicine as well.
In lieu of all these changes in lineup, Miranda's Moon has decided to go out in the biggest way imaginable. The concert and party will be free and open to all, with cheap German drafts and plenty of live entertainment. We'll be playing nearly everything we know, from electric to acoustic, and maybe even some piano work. Bring everyone you know and have a blast!
The venue chosen for this monumentous occasion is the Sachsenheim - a 111-year-old German fortress on the west side of Cleveland. Our main set will be in the gorgeous 2nd floor ballroom, and the later set will be on the 3rd floor, which has a great view of downtown. The Sachsenheim is located at 7001 Denison Ave, right near the Ridge Rd. intersection. Parking and admission will be free!
Face
it, this is easily going to be the best St. Patrick's Day event
in town. And remember, this will be the final
opportunity to see Miranda's Moon! Come say goodbye
and have a great time on us.
Here's the show's flyer
- feel free to hang it wherever you want!
2.8.06 - Despite the fact that winter still clings to our city, Miranda's Moon remains quite active. We just played the Grog Shop last Thursday, so special thanks to all that came out. I don't think we've ever played as long or as comfortably on stage before. We're trying to stay busy, so we've got a show lined up on the west side, on February 18th, for all those who couldn't make it out in the cold rain before. Check out the shows page for more information!
12.30.05 - The holiday season has brought with it a bit of a lull here in Moonville. With half the band on the other side of the Mississippi river, we haven't had the chance to put together a show. However, to keep in harmony with the grey winter mood, we'd like to make available some previously unreleased tracks that are appropriate for this sleepy season.
Window - An acrobatic feat of home recording, Window is a song about being trapped inside a space station with no chance of getting any fresh air. There has never been a smaller budget for home recording than is exhibited in this piece. Drums were recorded in an attic, with cords running up a flight of stairs... guitars were recorded in the living room, bass in a bedroom, and vocals in the bathroom. Based on true events.
Kuiper Belt Serenade - A dreary, slow and pretty waltz about Pluto and the moon Charon.
10.15.05
- Well! It's fall now around Moon headquarters. The solitary pumpkin
in our backyard is ripe, and the hop harvest is already drying out. The
Moon has been busy lately... in fact we just played WRUW's Studio-A-Rama
back in September, which was a great time. Never has it been so easy to
load and unload our gear! Not to mention there was free beer for the bands.
The highlight of the show were the wasps, kept under wraps until some drunkard
decided to kick the box over. It was then that some of us saw the biggest
wasp in recorded history, on top of Tom's shoulder. And.. the bands were
good, too.
As for the album, it's coming along still. We've mixed several tracks and
are moving along at a steady pace. I suppose you could say we're being finicky,
but we don't want to sound like we rushed through it to get it done, either.
I do believe we have at least one show already scheduled for November, so we'll keep you posted on that.
7.12.05 - This is some short notice, but we're playing on WRUW's Live From Cleveland this Thursday at 10PM. That's 91.1 FM for you Cleveland folks, but anyone else who wants to listen live can tune in to their mp3 stream online! Check us out, it should be a lot of fun! Oh, and you can call in with your requests to 216-368-2208!
6.26.05 - Notice anything different? Well, true, content-wise we haven't changed much. However, we have an all new web layout! Hopefully it's easier on the eyes than the last one. Updates soon!
6.2.05 - We've got some out of town shows coming up for you distant Moon fans. A two-day mini tour to Columbus and Indianapolis will be taking place Friday, June 10th and Saturday, June 11th. On Friday, we'll be playing with Tom Foolery and the Mistakes, a band we played with at Pat's In The Flats not too long ago, as well as the Rockwood Tavern back when it was open. Check out the shows page for more information! As for the album, it's coming along just fine. More on that soon.
5.5.05 - Happy Cinco de Mayo to you all! We just wanted to remind you of our show at the Grog Shop this Friday. A couple more bands have been added to the list: Whitechapel and Decadent. Whitechapel seems to be mostly electronic, kind of a new wave sound. Decadent is some interesting clean melodic rock. We're allegedly headlining the show, so we hope everyone can make it!
4.26.05 - Hello again. Recording progress continues, and we've now finished all guitar, piano, synth, and saxophone parts in addition to the parts mentioned below. The vocals and extraneous instruments are all that have yet to be recorded. Then the mixing begins. Of course, we'll keep you posted. Here's the news worthy of an update, though: we have a show at the Grog Shop on May 13th! This promises to be one hell of a concert. We'll be playing along with Harlem Airshaft, too. We'll see you there!
4.11.05 - Greetings, Moon fans. We all wanted to let you know that the recording process is back in full swing and everything is coming along swimmingly. So far all of the drum, bass, and lead guitar tracks are recorded, and our schedule is in place for everything else. The sound at the new studio is fantastic, and is making it a lot easier to cruise through songs than our previous release. As for a release date, we're still not certain, but know that we're working dilligently to get it finished. We have a few shows booked in the not-too-distant future, so check back soon to see what's shakin'!
2.19.05 - Dearest Mooners, we're happy to announce two upcoming shows! The first will be this weekend at The Beachland Tavern. The show is an UtterTrash showcase, which, if you haven't been to their site, please do check it out! They review and interview lots of local acts, plus movies and other random stuff. If you want to buy advance tickets, you can do that through UtterTrash OR through the Beachland's site. After that, we have a show at Pat's in the Flats, which y'all should definitely check out as well! Hope to see you all there! Oh, and uh... Happy President's Day.
1.5.05 - Moon fans, it's been quite a long time. Our most sincere apologies. We've been sidelined by unforseen studio holdups, but we will proceed with our new album very shortly. We do in fact have a show planned for February, so at the very least, we have something coming up. We have to keep our calendar clear to ensure we'll get the record done as soon as possible. Also, I'm sure we can find a few more live tunes to share with you all, so keep an eye out for more of those. The Moon wishes you a Happy New Year!
