Trip to Oakland - February '05

Welcome to Berkley's
finest bookstore: Book Zoo.

Our evening is pretty
much laid out for us. Forget the plastic Oakland A's cup. We just shat in that
thing.

Nicodemia has a
very cool old oven. This is the woodburning region of it.

If you've purchased
enough books at Book Zoo, you get a free tattoo, which looks remarkably like
their bookmark stamp.

The neighbor's dog
really thought it had boundless jurisdiction, and regularly assumed this post.
Little did he know someone was taking a crap AND a picture of him just a few
yards away.

Near the flea market,
the brave Oakland firefighters get their rehearsal on.

Economy packs of
toilet paper are just one of the many wonders you can see at the Flea Market.
In addition to 'Make It So', a book I bought for Johnny all about the leadership
qualities of Jean Luc Picard, I got a really nice guitar.

Just $28 and I got
this in-tune gem with all its strings intact. Yeah, there's some cracks and
a ton of dents, but it sounded cool.

The Dagobah system
is full of mynocks. It's illegal to smoke cigarettes here, but because of the
dense foliage, the mynocks can't see you.

On Monday we ventured
out near Mt. Tamalpais to check out the ultra-green mossy forest.

The mountain features
this wicked gnarly waterfall. Apparently it was operating at half-majesty, though.

One does not simply
drive into Mordor.

I'm sure if I searched
on the web for a little bit I could find out what this guy is, but I don't feel
like it. Suffice it to say, the dude was cool. He fell down from a tree and
immediately resumed his voyage, only to fall again, and resume, again.

Kung fu scenes should
be filmed here. By the time we reached this area, probably the highest point
of our journey, we were all pretty well saturated. The clouds flow around you,
leaving you quite damp.

Here's a wing shot
coming into Houston on my way home. It was hazy as hell there, so ya can't see
much.
